I think it helps English learners to offer the context you might use these more "unusual" phrasings -- in this case, it's a comparison: I think New York is a lot like Florida.

Since "arts and crafts" is the activity, not the product, we do not use "make." If you were thinking of a specific result, you could say "Do you want to make woven baskets?"
