Microsoft is moving its Halo development to Unreal Engine 5, after more than a year of rumors of an engine switch following a leadership overhaul at 343 Industries, layoffs, and other changes. 343 Industries is now becoming Halo Studios as part of this engine change announcement,

It's a new era for Halo, as developer 343 Industries announced at the conclusion of the 2024 Halo World Championships that not only are multiple new Halo projects in the works, but they will be developed (as long rumored) with Unreal Engine 5 instead of Halo Infinite's Slipstream Engine.

There may be more reasons than suspected for Halo moving to Unreal Engine 5, as rumours of a remake and PS5 port intensify.
